Lights up on International Men’s Day 2023
With two weeks to go before International Men’s Day on 19 November, groups across Australia are preparing to celebrate in a multitude of ways.
The InternationalMensDay.info calendar is filling up with an assortment of activities and events, with many more organisations expected to finalise their plans over the next fortnight.
Naturally, food is a popular choice for bringing supporters together.
Men’s Resources Tasmania invites “dads, sons, brothers, blokes, fellas, dudes, husbands, partners and grand-dads” to take part in their annual fundraiser breakfast with several guest speakers taking the podium, including Dean Yates, author of Line in the Sand, and Lifeline Tasmania superstar, Ben Fisher.
Also in Tasmania, the Penguin Lions Club is hosting a breakfast along the theme, ‘Men Leading by Example’ with guest speakers Greg Smith (The Men’s Shed) and comedian Ned Townsend.
Over at the Novotel Wollongong, Healthier Illawarra Men are hosting their second International Men’s Day event, to which they have invited Brett Connellan, surfer, marathon runner, Moloka'i 2 O'ahu open water board paddler and shark attack survivor.
Also, in the Wollongong Mall on 17 November, Talk2mebro and Barstool Brothers are offering free snags at a special IMD sausage sizzle starting at 9am.
In the West, the team from Men’s Talk AU have put together a morning of men-friendly maintenance starting with a wellness session on the beach, before breakfast and an inspiring presentation from The Empowering Project Team. Tickets are $25pp.
The Norwood Football Club in South Australia is the venue for a special luncheon with the Hon Sarah Game MLC and a fantastic lineup of speakers sharing personal stories including:
- Former RAAF Fighter Pilot Jim Whalley AO;
- AFL Legend Chris McDermott;
- Professor Gary Wittert; and
- CEO of Master Builders SA Will Frogley
The theme of International Men’s Day 2023 in Australia is Healthy Men, Healthy World! selected by the Australian Men’s Health Forum after consultation with a wide range of representatives from the men’s health sector.

Improving men and boys’ health, is one of the six key objectives of International Men’s Day on Sunday 19 November, and the Healthy Men, Healthy World theme responds to this commitment.

At The Gap in Queensland, the NOW Business Community has selected this theme for its IMD lunch where guests will hear from some amazing local men about the challenges men face, the impacts they can have, and their hopes for the future.
Attendees are reminded to wear something blue.
The International Men’s Day Forum in Darwin is back and promises to be the largest gathering of men in the Northern Territory at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel.
Organiser Bec Forrest has again put together a fantastic lineup of speakers including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander human right and social justice campaigner Professor Tom Calma, the 2023 Senior Australian of the Year.
The Rotary Caroline Springs is having an awards dinner on 17 November, which focuses on the theme Healthy Men, Healthy World, where nominating organisations will have the opportunity to speak about their champion and acknowledge their contribution and achievement.
The Ballina Seagulls Football Club in NSW will celebrate IMD at a lunch with coaching legends Kevin Sheedy (AFL) and boxing's Johnny Lewis.
