In conjunction with our friends at The Waterfront Tavern Shell Cove we (The Man Walk) are hosting a lunch. A chance to get the supporters of The Man Walk together for International Men's Day, this is not a fundraiser.
All guests will get a lunch, plus 3hr beverage package, and we have entertainment, as well as Zac Lomax and Blake Lawrie from the Dragons speaking at the event.
We will be entertained by the very popular local artist Tez Entertainment, who has generously donated his services for the afternoon.
It's going to be a great afternoon!
This year's IMD theme is "Healthy Men, Healthy World" and that is something The Man Walk can really get around.
IMD aim is to highlight some of the social issues that men and boys face, including the surprising fact that 50 Australian men die every day from preventable causes before the age of 75.
We all know the shocking statistics around 3 in 4 suicides, but men also account for 3 in 4 road deaths, 96% of workplace deaths, and 70% of deaths in young people aged 15-34.
So IMD is running 4 sub-themes and this is where The Man Walk really resonates:
Take action, stay healthy - walking is a great way to exercise and increase health.
Check in on a mate! - The Man Walk is built on building relationships and mateship and community.
Improving male health together - A strong theme of The Man Walk, is you are not alone, and we are doing this together.
Healthy male role models - we love the example our Man Walkers set in the community and in their own lives.
