The Fathering Project Lunch & Learn sessions for International Men’s Day

The Fathering Project, founded in WA 10 years ago but with a reach extending across Australia, is running a series of Lunch and Learn sessions for International Men’s Day 2024.

The online sessions give organisations – and dads working in them – an opportunity to explore parenting and strengthen their connection with their kids.

One of the key drivers for The Fathering Project, says National Partnerships Manager David Williams, is to uphold the father’s role and the importance of the father in having better outcomes for children. "The more involved both parents are, the better the outcome for the child will be," he says.

The Fathering Project schools program was so well-received that it was offered to corporate groups two years ago. It led to some companies like MRMA holding regular dads group meetings at work facilitated by TFP.

However, engaging in an extended program can be more challenging for smaller organisations. TFP decided to run one-off lunch and learn sessions around key dates, such as International Men's Day on Tuesday, 19th November.

“For those organisations thinking of engaging us, this is an opportunity to dip a toe in the water,” says Williams. “If they can’t commit to a full program, this is a way of engaging in a one-off.”

The workshops will run from 18-29 November focused on Parent as Role Models – Shaping Values, Attitudes & Behaviour Through Example. Each 60-minute interactive workshop, held via Teams or Zoom, provides practical tips and strategies for supporting staff with families.

The sessions are designed for workplaces looking to support their staff who have families and improve their wellbeing at work. They can be tailored to each workplace, including topics like modelling positive relationships, dads valuing learning, accountability and responsibility, respect and conflict resolution and navigating challenges with kids.
